The story
It started, as these things often do, with a family member. An elderly parent, a complicated medication schedule, a sticky note on the fridge that kept falling off. We tried every pill reminder app on the App Store. They were all variations of the same thing: cluttered, clinical, loud with ads, built like medical compliance software rather than something a human would actually want to use.
We believed there was a better way. A medication reminder app could be a quiet friend, not a pushy nurse. It could feel like a calm apothecary — warm, trustworthy, thoughtfully made — instead of a sterile waiting room.
Half of people with chronic conditions don't take their medication as prescribed. Not because they don't want to — because remembering is hard when life gets loud.
So we built PillRem. Every detail — from the gentle reminder tones to the soft ivory interface to the one-tap PDF reports — was designed around a single idea: take the cognitive load off your shoulders so you can focus on feeling well.
What we believe
Calm is a feature
Medication apps have traditionally been loud — flashing red alerts, angry notification sounds, stressful red/green adherence scores that feel like a report card. We reject that. PillRem is intentionally calm because managing chronic conditions is already stressful enough.
Privacy is not optional
Your medication data is some of the most sensitive information you can share. It can reveal diagnoses, pregnancies, mental health struggles, and more. We refuse to build a business model that treats that data as inventory. PillRem has no ads, no trackers, and no data sales. Your medications stay on your iPhone, by default.
Simplicity beats completeness
Many medication apps try to be everything — pharmacy, telehealth, insurance aggregator, social network. We think that's a trap. PillRem does one thing exceptionally well: it helps you remember your medications and track how consistent you've been. That's it. That's the whole product.
Design is a form of care
Beautiful software is caring software. Every rounded corner, every thoughtful empty state, every piece of warm typography in PillRem is a small act of respect for the person using it. We spent months getting the first onboarding screen right because first impressions matter when you're trusting an app with your health.

Who we are
PillRem is an independent, bootstrapped project. We are a small team of designers and iOS engineers who care deeply about the craft of making software that respects its users. We have no investors pushing us to maximise engagement at your expense. We answer only to the people who use our app.
